U.S. Customs and Border Protection recommends Shippers ensure an ISO 17712:2013 compliant high-security seal is
1) properly affixed to all full (stuffed) container shipments and 2) the seal number is accurately recorded on the shipping instructions prior to transporting the cargo to the terminal.

PNCT Business Partners are reminded to be vigilant in ensuring ISO 17712:2013 compliant seals are properly affixed to all full containers. Under the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) full Instruments of International Traffic (i.e. shipping containers) must have ISO 17712:2013 compliant high security seals properly affixed at the point of stuffing to prevent pilferage, terrorist devices, and other contraband from entering the global supply chain.
